Considered one of the greatest producers in California, Mark Aubert’s wines are a must-try for Pinot Noir lovers. The 2004 Reuling Vineyard is a brilliant release now perfect for consumption offering aromas of sweet raspberry and dark cherry fruit, wisps of woodsmoke and truffle-laden earthiness. On the palate it is full-bodied and rich with underlying power.
93 Vinous
(15.9% alcohol; 100% new oak) Good deep red-ruby. Cooler aromas of black cherry, peat and earth, with an enticing violet topnote. Wonderfully sweet but restrained. A bit less blue fruit in character than the UV Vineyard bottling. Finishes chewy and firm, with suave tannins. This is reportedly from a Romanee-Conti clone, and in fact the aromas and flavors are rather Vosne-like.

Sublime Pinot Noir and Chardonnay

Aubert was founded by Mark and Theresa Aubert in 2000, located on the famous Silverado trail in Calistoga. Before he and his partner opened Aubert, Mark had gained experience at the Peter Michael Winery and Colgin Cellars and also made wine at a 'custom crush' facility in California. Aubert have some proprietary vineyards, around three and half acres in Sonoma, which they bottle under the 'UV' label. The remainder of the fruit is sourced from selected vineyards across Sonoma and Napa.

In the world of wine, Aubert is really a byword for world-class single vineyard or single block Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The vineyards they source from represent a mix of terroirs and include some old vines as well as some recent plantings. What remains consistent through all these bottlings is the preservation of fruit character and an extreme obsession with quality.
