The Aubert Larry Hyde & Sons Chardonnay 2016 is a meticulously crafted wine from the renowned Hyde vineyard in California, known for its exceptional terroir. This Chardonnay displays a complex profile, revealing layers of citrus and stone fruit, balanced with a subtle mineral edge. The wine undergoes both fermentation and ageing in French oak barrels, contributing to its structured mouthfeel. Aubert wines, established by Mark Aubert in 2000, are characterised by their vineyard-specific expressions, showcasing the intricacies of their unique growing locations.

The 2016 Chardonnay Larry Hyde and Sons is so delicate, precise and nuanced. In 2016, the Hyde leans more towards the citrus end of the spectrum. Candied lemon peel and lifted floral notes are some of the signatures in this striking, beautifully delineated Chardonnay. In most vintages, Hyde tends to give a decidedly forward style of Chardonnay. Mark Aubert`s 2016 is all finesse.Antonio Galloni1st April 2018

Sublime Pinot Noir and Chardonnay

Aubert was founded by Mark and Theresa Aubert in 2000, located on the famous Silverado trail in Calistoga. Before he and his partner opened Aubert, Mark had gained experience at the Peter Michael Winery and Colgin Cellars and also made wine at a 'custom crush' facility in California. Aubert have some proprietary vineyards, around three and half acres in Sonoma, which they bottle under the 'UV' label. The remainder of the fruit is sourced from selected vineyards across Sonoma and Napa.

In the world of wine, Aubert is really a byword for world-class single vineyard or single block Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The vineyards they source from represent a mix of terroirs and include some old vines as well as some recent plantings. What remains consistent through all these bottlings is the preservation of fruit character and an extreme obsession with quality.
