Auxey-Duresses

Auxey-Duresses is set slightly apart from the rest of the vineyards of the Côte d’Or. Located between Volnay and Meursault, the vineyards lie at the entrance to a valley which runs from the Côte de Beaune into the Hautes Côtes. The slightly cooler microclimate of the side valley in which the vineyards are located dictates that the wines produced here do not quite reach the sensuous heights of Burgundy’s most celebrated terroirs; however in good vintages, and with skilled hands in the vineyard and the cellar, the wines of Auxey-Duresses often possess great charm and longevity – the Pinots developing a soft, graceful elegance and the Chardonnays marked by an elegant minerality and persistence.
