Banff
A Silent Still
Finally demolished in the early 1980s, Banff was a distillery that suffered its fair share of bad luck over the 150 years it was operational. In 1877 the distillery burnt to the ground before being swiftly rebuilt by the then owners, the Simpson family. The economic depression of the early 1930 bankrupted the family and they were forced to sell the distillery off to make ends meet. The distillery buildings were heavily damaged by German bombs during the Second World War and suffered another explosive fire in the late 1950s - talk about jinxed!
