Domaine Huet’s 2008 Le Mont Demi-Sec is a semi-dry Chenin Blanc from one of the estate’s most celebrated sites. The green clay and silica soils of Le Mont provide a verticality that perfectly suits the high-acid 2008 vintage. This wine shows a coiled energy, with flavours of lime juice, green apple and a cold stone minerality that hides the subtle residual sugar. After more than 15 years, it has developed a faint scent of truffle and wool, yet it remains youthful and tight. The finish is long, bone-dry in feel and laser-focused.

In 2008, a storm at the end of May – the flowering period – flooded the village, and the potential crop was halved. Now 14 years old, it retains a bright lemon color. It is still tangy and starting to develop lime marmalade on toast as well as truffle notes. Le Mont's racy acidity keeps this wine attentive and taut. It has excellent concentration while being round and focused. While starting to develop, this is still young, vibrant and has years, even decades in it. Rebecca Gibb6th September 2022

Almost 15 years old now, the golden-yellow colored 2008 Vouvray Le Mont Demi-Sec opens with a clear and elegant, wonderfully aromatic and fruity bouquet of ripe and stewed yellow-fleshed stone fruits intermingled with delicate honey and also flinty notes. Full-bodied, rich and also savory on the palate, with a gorgeous concentration of dried apricots and highly delicate acidity, this is a mouth-filling, very elegant, refined and charming, tight and tensioned Le Mont with fine but firm tannins and a seriously saline, crystalline acidity that gives grip and vibration at the same time. The finish is long, tight and aromatic and stimulatingly bitter. The 2008 is neither young nor already really matured but combines the vitality of a young wine with the texture of a matured Chenin. I`d rather keep it for another 10+ years before I`d serve it today. White truffles and straw notes as well as dried apricot, white chocolate and nougat aromas emerge from the empty glass. 13.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in March 2023. - Stephan Reinhardt
