The 2010 Domaine de la Vougeraie Vougeot 1er Cru Les Cras is a Pinot Noir from a notable Burgundy estate founded by Jean-Claude Boisset, known for its commitment to biodynamic practices. The vineyard spans 1.43 hectares, positioned against the north wall of the Clos de Vougeot, characterised by its silty, calcareous soils. The 2010 vintage, marked by reduced yields from frost, results in a wine that exhibits a complex nose of earthy stone, ripe red berries, and hints of floral notes. The palate reveals a balanced structure with elements of cherry and mineral essence, presenting a tense finish that reflects the vineyard’s terroir.

Located between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune in Prémeaux, Domaine de la Vougeraie was founded by Jean-Claude Boisset in 1999. The name was inspired by domaine’s significant vineyard holdings in the village of Vougeot, which is also Boisset’s home.

One of Burgundy’s leading domaines, Vougeraie owns about 40ha of vineyard in more than 30 different appellations of Burgundy, including the Grands Crus of Clos Vougeot, Musigny, Bonnes-Mares, Charmes Chambertin, Mazoyères, Corton Clos du Roi and Corton Charlemagne. The domaine vineyards have been managed biodynamically since 2001. The highest possible production values and strictest levels of quality control, including a state-of-the-art sorting table, are maintained for the domaine’s entire range of wines. The domaine’s general manager, Sylvie Poillot, has managed the winemaking team since Pierre Vincent departed for Domaine Leflaive.
