Based in the town of Premeaux-Prissey, Domaine de la Vougeraie was launched in 1999 when the Boisset family decided to consolidate what they considered the best 35 hectares of their vineyards into one single estate. This particular release hails from a walled, organically certified vineyard on the northern outskirts of the Vougeot village, one of the domaine’s monopoles. The 2022 vintage proves to be highly promising, showcasing Burgundy`s ability to maintain its distinctive character even in the presence of increasingly extreme weather conditions.
Vinous
- The 2022 Vougeot Blanc Le Clos de Prieuré has a refined bouquet with much more delineation and tension than the last vintage, offering touches of yellow fruit and light beeswax aromas. The oak here is nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with lemon thyme, orange pith and light wild peachy notes. It needs more tension and precision on the finish, otherwise it would have merited a higher score.

Located between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune in Prémeaux, Domaine de la Vougeraie was founded by Jean-Claude Boisset in 1999. The name was inspired by domaine’s significant vineyard holdings in the village of Vougeot, which is also Boisset’s home.

One of Burgundy’s leading domaines, Vougeraie owns about 40ha of vineyard in more than 30 different appellations of Burgundy, including the Grands Crus of Clos Vougeot, Musigny, Bonnes-Mares, Charmes Chambertin, Mazoyères, Corton Clos du Roi and Corton Charlemagne. The domaine vineyards have been managed biodynamically since 2001. The highest possible production values and strictest levels of quality control, including a state-of-the-art sorting table, are maintained for the domaine’s entire range of wines. The domaine’s general manager, Sylvie Poillot, has managed the winemaking team since Pierre Vincent departed for Domaine Leflaive.
