Volnay Santenots Jacques Prieur 2005 is a 1er Cru Burgundy Pinot Noir from the esteemed Côte de Beaune region. Nestled between Pommard and Meursault, Volnay is recognised for its distinguished terroir. Les Santenots is particularly notable, with a 1.4ha parcel owned by Jacques Prieur. The vineyard features old Pinot Noir vines growing in brown magnesium-rich soils over hard limestone. This vintage was crafted from fully destemmed grapes and matured in French oak barrels for 16 months, reflecting the producer`s commitment to traditional winemaking practices. This vintage was considered by the producer.

Vinous
Full ruby-red. Wild, ripe aromas of black raspberry, chocolate and licorice. Densely packed, sweet and a bit reduced, with a rather burly, monolithic character today. This deep, thick wine is extremely unevolved in the middle palate, but the tannins are ripe and fine-grained and the finish shows excellent length. I'd forget about this one for a decade.
