Established in 1998 by visionary winemaker Pierre Seillan, Vérité Winery is a highly acclaimed Californian estate located in Sonoma County. Vérité ‘La Joie’ is generally dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon with a varying proportion of Merlot and occasionally other Bordeaux varietals like Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The 2019 vintage evokes aromas of black currant, blackberry and graphite, intermingled with hints of spice and violet. The palate is rich and complex, featuring flavours of dark fruit, cassis, and earthy undertones, supported by firm yet elegant tannins and balanced acidity.

Cabernet Sauvignon dominant, this has power and balance, with suave black cherry, damson, cocoa bean character and toasted five spice character. Always a wine that knows how far to push, and no further, giving impact and tension, and a confident architectural frame. Pierre Seillan winemaker.Jane Anson31st August 2022

Bordeaux via Sonoma County

A true visionary, Jess Jackson’s lengthy career, which spanned more than 30 years, was driven by a passion for producing extraordinary wine from California’s best vineyards. Jackson had longed to create a wine that would be just as good as the world’s best wines and was confident that the terroir in Sonoma County had that potential. Teaming up with Bordeaux winemaker Pierre Seillan, the duo created Vérité - a project with the aim of making some of the world's greatest Cabernet Sauvignon.

As Pierre approaches retirement, the reins are being passed to his daughter Hélène Seillan, who grew up in Sonoma County and Saint-Émilion, studying Viticulture and Oneology at the Institut Rural de Vayres in Bordeaux. Hélène is set to build on the work of her father and Jess Jackson - crafting Bordeaux-inspired Cabernet with poise and precision.
