Tignanello, the most renowned among Marchesi Antinori`s wines, sprawls across 57 hectares on a southwest-facing slope, boasting limestone-rich soils at an elevation of 350-400 meters above sea level. This wine holds historical significance as the first in the region to blend Sangiovese with non-traditional international varieties, and notably omit white grapes, leading to its initial classification as a Vino da Tavola and its current status as a Toscana IGT. The 1980 vintage exhibits a prominent raisin character on the nose, accompanied by balsamic, beef bouillon, tobacco leaf, and herbal notes. On the palate, it presents a tangy cranberry finish, featuring robust acidity and subtle tannins.

Once again, the 2015 Tignanello is stunning. Sweet, floral notes give the 2015 striking aromatic intensity to play off a core of red Sangiovese fruit. In 2015, the Sangiovese is a bit higher than the norm, which comes through in the wine`s flavor profile. The tannins are also a bit biting at this stage, but that won`t be an issue in time. Bright red cherry, plum, blood orange mint and sweet floral notes build into a finish laced with energy and tension. The 2015 is utterly captivating. That`s all there is to it. An Antinori Icon

While technically a wine rather than a winery, Marchesi Antinori's flagship red wine, Supertuscan Tignanello, has become an icon in its own right. Produced from the Tignanello estate, this wine is one of Italy’s most recognized and celebrated fine wines. Tignanello is a blend of mostly Sangiovese wines with lesser parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, showcasing the Antinori family's mastery in winemaking.

Situated in the heart of Chianti Classico, in the gently rolling hillsides between the Greve and Pesa river valleys, the Tenuta Tignanello vineyard produces these influential wines. Tignanello was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, the first contemporary red wine blended with untraditional varieties (specifically Cabernet), and one of the first red wines in the Chianti Classico region not to use white grapes. This innovation has made it a modern red wine that stands out among its peers.

The Antinori estate also produces a superb Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon Grappa, a full-bodied Bordeaux-style red called Guado al Tasso, and delicate yet refined white wines from Castello della Sala, adding to its portfolio of iconic wines. The legacy of the Antinori family is evident in every bottle of these exceptional Italian wines.
