Terlano Rarita Pinot Bianco 2011 is a medium-bodied white wine from the Alto Adige region of northern Italy. Cantina Terlano is one of the leading wine co-operatives in the world, with a particular expertise in producing long-lived, terroir-focused white wines. Terlano`s Rarita range encompasses special editions of mature white wines that have been left to age on the lees in steel pressure tanks for at least 10 years. This 2011 Pinot Bianco captivates with a combination of extreme complexity and impressive freshness. aromas of white flowers, chamomile, some white peach paired with restrained mineral notes reminiscent of flint; on the palate, the wine impresses with a grippy, compact yet supple structure. Its distinctive texture generates an infinitely long finish, with enormous tension and salty minerality.

The 2011 Pinot Bianco Rarity entices with its rich notes of raw almond followed by dried flowers, incense, and savory spices, lifted by zests of lime and, finally, freshly sliced nectarine. This is soothingly round, nearly creamy in feel, with a silken wave of decadently ripe peach and green melon carried across a stream of juicy acidity. The 2011 finishes spicy and long, leaving the mouth watering as a minty herbal flourish slowly fades. While showing a warm vintage character, the 2011s balance can not be denied.

Traditional wines from Alto Adige

Established in 1893, Cantina Terlano has grown to become one of South Tyrol’s most respected wine cooperatives, now comprising 143 dedicated growers. Since the beginning, both the winery and its members have pursued an unwavering commitment to quality, a reputation that has earned Cantina Terlano widespread acclaim both in Italy and across international markets.

Despite its modest size, the estate has firmly secured its place among the world’s notable wine producers. Today, the winery produces a range of wines, with approximately 70% white and 30% red. A significant cellar expansion in 2009 increased storage capacity to 18,000 cubic metres, allowing wines to mature in optimal conditions. Architecturally, the building blends seamlessly with the landscape, featuring a red porphyry façade, echoing the unique soils of the region, and a vineyard-planted rooftop.

Wines are released under two main categories: the classic range and the premium Selections, along with a rare release aged for a decade or more—an exceptional expression of the estate’s dedication to longevity and refinement.
