Talbot 2000 is a Left Bank Bordeaux produced by Château Talbot, a 4ème Grand Cru Classé estate located in Saint-Julien. This vintage displays a blend primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The wine exhibits notes of cassis, plum and subtle earthy undertones, coupled with its characteristic mineral edge. The 2000 vintage is noted for its structure and balance, now entering an optimal drinking phase. Decanting is advised to separate sediment and enhance aeration, allowing the nuanced flavours to unfold. Available here in magnum.

The 2000 Talbot shows a bit of bricking on the rim. It’s somewhat rustic on the nose, displaying licorice-tinged black fruit, marmalade and furniture polish and just a little brettanomyces. A light underlying balsamic note filters through with time. The palate is medium-bodied, quite savory and powdery in texture, with dry-ish, grainy tannins and a spicy but slightly austere finish. The vineyards at Château Talbot cover around 110 hectares and are planted with 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, and 8% Petit Verdot. The soils are composed of deep gravel overlying clay subsoil, which gives the wines a distinct minerality and complexity. The vineyard is managed sustainably, with a focus on preserving the natural environment and producing high-quality grapes.

In recent years, Château Talbot has invested heavily in modernizing its winemaking facilities while still maintaining the traditional methods that have made it successful for centuries. The estate's commitment to quality and sustainability, combined with its rich history and exceptional wines, make it a must-visit for wine lovers visiting Bordeaux.

Beyond the Grand Vin, Château Talbot produces a second wine called "Connetable de Talbot" and a white wine called "Caillou Blanc de Talbot".
