Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Rosé 2004 is a vintage, prestige-cuvée Champagne produced by Maison Taittinger in Reims, France. Comte de Champagne is made entirely from grapes sourced from the best vines in the prestigious Côte des Blancs and Montage de Reims regions. The 2004 Rosé is a blend of Chardonnay (30%) from the Côte des Blancs and Pinot Noir (70%) from the Montagne de Reims, with the addition of 15% still red wine. "Taittinger’s 2004 Brut Rose Comtes de Champagne is a delicate, perfumed wine. In 2004, the Rose shows quite a bit of Chardonnay character in its precise, chiselled fruit and long, minerally finish. After several hours the wine continued to dazzle with its crystalline purity and fabulous balance. This is a jewel of a wine from Taittinger. This is Lot L8357WA04300, disgorged November, 2008 (not indicated on label)." Wine Advocate, 2010

A Family Business

The Taittinger family have been running their eponymous Champagne house since 1932. One of the last family-owned houses in Reims, the brand has a reputation for quality-driven vintage and non-vintage Champagnes. Sourcing fruit from over 35 vineyards sites, the team produce a range of styles including an elegant non-vintage, two sweeter Champagnes in the form of Nocturne and Demi-Sec and a Grand Cru-based non-vintage.

The Taittinger family's Prestige Cuvée is Comtes de Champagne, first produced in 1952. This Blanc de Blancs (100% Chardonnay) is produced using fruit from five different Grand Cru sites across the Côte de Blancs. An aromatic, full-bodied Champagne with notes of citrus oil and green apple in youth, Comtes de Champagne ages superbly, with time in the bottle revealing notes of toasted hazelnut and a creamy richness.
