Stark-Condé Wines is a boutique winery located in the picturesque Jonkershoek Valley in Stellenbosch. The winery is known for producing handcrafted, small-batch wines with a focus on quality and terroir expression. The Stark-Condé Three Pines Syrah 2019 is a single-vineyard Syrah produced from grapes grown in the Three Pines vineyard, which is named after the three pine trees that stand on the property. The vineyard is situated at an elevation of approximately 600 meters above sea level, providing a cooler climate that is ideal for producing high-quality Syrah grapes with concentrated flavours and balanced acidity.

Beginning with a dark ruby core and soft magenta rim, 2019 Three Pines Syrah offers a dark-berried and floral aromatic array with firm yet juicy essences of black plums and spiced cherries with crushed black and red peppercorns. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is bright and food-friendly on the palate, with energetic acidity and fine-grained tannins that continue to uncoil and unwind before leading to a focused, brilliant finish. Bravo. This beauty has me daydreaming of lamb chops and grilled game meats. - Anthony Mueller

From a single vineyard (Three Pines) on the estate. Vineyard bunch selection and winery selection (they have an amazing vineyard crew who have been working with them for 30 years). Small-batch fermented with native yeasts. 20 months in small French oak barrels. Unfined and unfiltered. 2019 was the last year of drought so yields were low, berries were tiny, concentration was high. Just 3,308 bottles produced.Violets, red pepper, pink peppercorns, ras al hanout fragrance. The tannins are deeply fissured, silk taffeta, peppery, grippingly seductive and yet gently insistent – like heart beat. The fruit is as fine as Pinot Noir, glistening, the dark blue black of elderberries one moment, the sharp paper-cut red of holly berries the next. Tomato vine and vine tomatoes.  Pine-needle and clove aromatic. Extraordinarily elegant. Long, inky, graphite curling ribbon of a finish. (TC)
