Staglin Family Vineyard is a respected winery located in the Rutherford AVA of Napa Valley. Established in 1985 by Shari and Garen Staglin, the winery has built a strong reputation for producing high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon wines that express the unique terroir of the Rutherford Bench. The 2008 vintage in Napa Valley was marked by a challenging growing season due to spring frosts and wildfires during the summer. Despite these challenges, careful vineyard management and a dry, mild autumn allowed for the production of wines with good concentration, structure and complexity.
92 Vinous
Bright medium ruby. Cassis, bitter chocolate, licorice, violet and spicy oak on the nose. Densely packed and ripe but also nicely vibrant, with good lift and saline complexity to the black cherry, dark berry and licorice flavors. Finishes with big, ripe tannins and very good chocolatey persistence. Hints at slightly elevated alcohol but also boasts harmonious acidity and plenty of personality. An excellent vintage for this bottling.
