The Siran Magnum 2000 is a prominent red Bordeaux from the Margaux region, produced by Château Siran, a winery with origins dating back to the 17th century. The vineyard spans 50 hectares on a gravelly ridge overlooking the Gironde estuary, underpinned by blue clay subsoil. This vintage benefited from a warm, dry August followed by a balanced autumn, resulting in optimal grape ripeness. The typical blend includes Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. The wine presents a deep ruby hue, with complex aromas of red fruits, tobacco, and earthy notes. On the palate, it showcases structure and a lingering finish, illustrating classic Margaux characteristics.

Vinous
The 2000 Siran presents a pleasant bouquet of red cherries and crushed strawberry, pretty and dainty, yet perhaps not articulating the terroir like recent vintages. The palate is medium-bodied with soft tannins, quite earthy and almost Saint-Julien-like in style, revealing blackberry notes toward the finish, where it fades a little when you want it to exert more grip. Still, this has an easy-drinking charm at 21 years of age. Neal Martin1st September 2021
