Competitive storage rates: £15 per 12-bottle case per year, £7.50 per 6-bottle case per year, equivalent to £1.25 per standard bottle. Alternative formats will be charged accordingly.

Duty Charges

Below is a summary of the new duty charges per bottle as of February 2026. Please note that these vary depending on the ABV and are subject to change. Please get in touch if you require more information:

Transparent Billing and Rate Calculations

Annual Billing: Clients are invoiced annually based on the wines stored in the preceding year.
Case Equivalents: A case is defined as 9 litres of wine (typically twelve 750ml bottles), ensuring clarity in pricing.
Pro-Rata Charges: Storage fees are charged on a per-bottle basis, and wines stored for part of a month will be billed accordingly.

How to Use Our Bonded Storage

Purchase en primeur or under-bond wines from Hedonism Wines.
Automatically enjoy twelve months of free storage at our bonded storage when you open your storage account.
After twelve months, your storage will continue at the rates outlined above, with quarterly invoicing.
When you are ready to receive your wines, simply request delivery. Most orders are fulfilled within 3-4 working days.

Hillside Select is the flagship wine of iconic Napa Valley producer, Shafer Vineyards and is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from 14 rugged vineyard blocks planted on an amphitheatre-shaped piece of land that surrounds the winery. With a powerful 14.9% abv, the 2003 vintage saw a long period of 32 months aging in 100% new French oak. Showcasing typical Cabernet notes of mineral, floral and cassis with a wonderfully velvety palate and excellent integration.

(13.5% alcohol): Good dark red. The nose conveys an herbaceous element not shown by the 2002 or 2001, offering scents of plum, milk chocolate, tobacco leaf and wild herbs; I might have picked this blind as Merlot. Thick and chunky on the palate but slightly angular. I find this concentrated wine a bit medicinal, even brutal, on the back end. Suggests a wide range of ripeness. Following a disrupted flowering, the estate did a lot of vineyard work to attempt to even out the ripeness. But we had too much canopy for too little fruit and had to pick quickly during warm conditions at the end, noted Doug Shafer.Stephen Tanzer1st July 2016

A Family Tradition

An icon of modern winemaking in the Napa Valley, Shafer Vineyards was founded in 1972 by John Shafer, who left a career in publishing to pursue his passion for oenology in California. John and family moved into an estate in Stag's Leap District and began work re-establishing vineyards on the surrounding land. Around five years later, the first Cabernet Sauvignon was produced and it was clear that John had a natural talent for winemaking. Since then, the portfolio has expanded to include Merlot, Syrah and Chardonnay-based wines to name but a few - quality is high across the board and the team pay close attention to preserving varietal character across all bottlings.

John sadly passed away in 2019 and the winery is now managed by his son Doug - a graduate of UC Davis. Doug continues his father's work in partnership with Elias Fernandez, assistant winemaker at Shafer Vineyards. Their flagship wine is Hillside Select, produced using 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged for 32 months in new French oak.
