Duty Charges

Transparent Billing and Rate Calculations

Annual Billing: Clients are invoiced annually based on the wines stored in the preceding year.
Case Equivalents: A case is defined as 9 litres of wine (typically twelve 750ml bottles), ensuring clarity in pricing.
Pro-Rata Charges: Storage fees are charged on a per-bottle basis, and wines stored for part of a month will be billed accordingly.

How to Use Our Bonded Storage

Purchase en primeur or under-bond wines from Hedonism Wines.
Automatically enjoy twelve months of free storage at our bonded storage when you open your storage account.
After twelve months, your storage will continue at the rates outlined above, with quarterly invoicing.
When you are ready to receive your wines, simply request delivery. Most orders are fulfilled within 3-4 working days.

1992 was the debut vintage of Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon and only 175 cases were produced. The creation of estate-owner, Jean Philips, alongside the winemaking talent of Heidi Barrett and Gustav Dalla Valle, this wine scored 99 points from wine critic Robert Parker which all but sealed its status as one of the most highly sought after “cult” wines in the world. Bottled unfined and unfiltered so decanting is advised.

This small operation is located just below the Dalla Valle vineyard near the Oakville Cross. Screaming Eagle's Cabernet Sauvignons are going to create quite a stir among lovers of that varietal - if they are able to latch onto a bottle or two. The estate is owned by Tony Bowden and Jean Phillips, one of Napa Valley's leading real estate agents. With the help of Heidi Barrett and Gustav Dalla Valle, this operation's debut vintage is the extraordinary 1992 Cabernet Sauvignon, one of the greatest young Cabernets I have ever tasted. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered, and aged in 60% new oak. It is only sold via a mailing list, so readers who want to taste one of the most exciting young wines being produced should get on the list. The 175 cases of the 1992 are followed by only 130 cases of the 1993, and a tiny quantity of 1994, as the last two vintages were even smaller in crop size. At present, the 1992 can be bought at the following Napa Valley locations: the restaurants Don Giovanni and Brava, and at the St. Helena Wine Center and Oakville Grocery. Don't dilly-dally around on this one.
The 1992 Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon is exceptionally impressive. The wine's opaque purple color is followed by a sensational nose of jammy blackcurrants and subtle toasty oak. As stunning as the aromatics are, the wine reveals even greater richness and intensity on the palate, offering up layers of stunningly proportioned, ripe, intense fruit, full body, great purity, and an inner-core of sweet, creamy, highly extracted blackcurrant/cassis fruit. The tannin is nearly concealed behind the massive extract and richness. All the component parts are brilliantly focused and in balance. The finish is awesome! This is a spectacular debut release that should age effortlessly for 20 years.

An Iconic Cult Cabernet

An almost mythical name in the wine world, particularly among connoisseurs of fine Californian Cabernet Sauvignon. Screaming Eagle had relatively modest beginnings - in the early 1990s, grape grower Jean Philips decided to ask Robert Mondavi to taste her homemade Cabernet Sauvignon. Mondavi was so enamoured with the dense, full-flavoured Cabernet Sauvignon she presented that he encouraged her to bottle it as soon as possible. The high quality of the wine, perfect scores from critics and tiny production meant it swiftly became the holy grail for American wine collectors.

The Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard at Screaming Eagle benefits from a rocky substrate and excellent drainage and exposure. The result is fruit that gets plenty of sun to ripen, but a cooling northerly breeze courtesy of the San Pablo Bay. The wines are made in a bold, rich, unapologetically Californian style. Blackcurrent, cigar box, blackerries and violets abound on the nose while the tannins are soft and fine-grained. The estate also produce a second wine, "Second Flight" and a tiny amount Sauvignon Blanc.
