Situated in Prémeaux-Prissey, Domaine de la Vougeraie came into existence in 1999 when wine entrepreneur Jean-Claude Boisset made the decision to centralize all the vineyard holdings acquired by his various négociant companies over the years. Boasting nearly 40 hectares of vineyard area and over 30 different appellations, Vougeraie stands out as one of Burgundy’s finest estates. This particular release hails from Savigny-lès-Beaune, a sizable village in the Côte de Beaune where only 10% of the wines are white. The wine undergoes a maturation process of 16 months in oak barrels followed by an additional 2-month period in stainless steel tanks.
Vinous
- The 2022 Savigny-lès-Beaune Blanc has a light sea spray and green apple-scented nose. The palate is well-balanced but simple, maybe showing a bit of dilution on the finish. Enjoyable, but could be better.

Located between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune in Prémeaux, Domaine de la Vougeraie was founded by Jean-Claude Boisset in 1999. The name was inspired by domaine’s significant vineyard holdings in the village of Vougeot, which is also Boisset’s home.

One of Burgundy’s leading domaines, Vougeraie owns about 40ha of vineyard in more than 30 different appellations of Burgundy, including the Grands Crus of Clos Vougeot, Musigny, Bonnes-Mares, Charmes Chambertin, Mazoyères, Corton Clos du Roi and Corton Charlemagne. The domaine vineyards have been managed biodynamically since 2001. The highest possible production values and strictest levels of quality control, including a state-of-the-art sorting table, are maintained for the domaine’s entire range of wines. The domaine’s general manager, Sylvie Poillot, has managed the winemaking team since Pierre Vincent departed for Domaine Leflaive.
