Salon 2008 is a single-vineyard vintage Champagne produced by Champagne Salon in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, France. An unparalleled Blanc de Blancs, Salon comes from a single-hectare plot and 19 other smaller plots in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The wine is only produced in the best vintages. As a result, the 20th century saw only 37 bottlings of this fabled Champagne. The 2008 is available here in magnum format. "After an initial floral-scented, fruit-driven nose, fresh menthol notes invade the glass. Remarkable power and generosity on the palate, and yet the mouthfeel is crystalline and perfectly balanced. A compelling mix of complexity and elegance. The finish is long and pure. Has the potential to stay the distance for 50 years." 100 points, Decanter, 2020

Given its tiny production of around 8,000 magnums, the 2008 Salon is not a Champagne most of us will often taste, if at all. On this night, it was once again glorious, with all the classic Salon signatures dialed up to the maximum. It was the perfect palate cleanser.Antonio Galloni1st February 2023

Rare and Beautiful

One of the world's most famous prestige cuvée, the first vintage of Champagne Salon was 1905, although it wouldn't be until the 1920s that these wines were finally released to the public. An unparalleled Blanc de Blancs, Salon comes from a single hectare plot and nineteen other smaller plots in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, and the wine is only prouced in the very finest vintages. As a result, the 20th century saw only 37 bottlings of this fabled Champagne.

Every bottle of Salon is held at the estate cellars for 10 years before release. The result is a highly complex, layered Blanc de Blancs Champagne which has the capacity to age for decades.
