Ruchottes-Chambertin Clos des Ruchottes Armand Rousseau 2008 is a Grand Cru Pinot Noir from the Gevrey-Chambertin region of Burgundy, France. This wine holds legendary status, with the Clos des Ruchottes vineyard providing a sense of purity and structural tension that is unique in the Côte de Nuits. The 2008 vintage showcases the hallmark Rousseau style, with a perfumed nose of red fruit, earth and crushed stones. The palate is characterised by precision and impressive persistence, reflecting the old vines and the meticulous, minimal-intervention approach to winemaking that has solidified the reputation of this historic domaine.

Medium red. Slightly high-toned aromas of raspberry, flowers, spices and menthol. Then silky-sweet in the mouth, with spicy red berry flavors complicated by a savory, saline soil note. As bright as this suave wine is, it offers sneaky fullness weight weight. A very firm acid spine gives sharp definition to the strawberry and raspberry flavors on the back half. Finishes vibrant, perfumed and long. This youthfully tight wine should reward five years of patience.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2011
