Located in the charming village of Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Sylvain Cathiard & Fils is a family-owned winery. The boutique estate spans approximately five hectares of vineyards across Vosne-Romanée, Nuit-Saint-Georges, and Chambolle-Musigny, with a small plot in Romanée-Saint-Vivant, the source of this release. For the 2020 vintage, the wine was aged in three barrels, two of which were new. It presents a sharp nose, featuring notes of dark cherries, blackcurrant, violet petals, and crushed stone. On the palate, this medium-bodied wine boasts flavours of spicy black cherry, red fruit, blood orange, and cracked black pepper. It exhibits impressive depth, firm grip, and a remarkably persistent finish.
Wafting from the glass with aromas of creamy berry fruit, rich spices, plum preserves, loamy soil and new oak, Cathiard`s 2020 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru is full-bodied, rich and concentrated, with impressively tangy acids and a tightly wound mid-palate. Still youthfully primary, it will be fascinating to revisit in bottle.

The 2020 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru is matured in three barrels of which two are new. It has a beautifully focused bouquet with dark cherries, blackcurrant, violet petals and crushed stone. The palate is medium-bodied with spicy black cherry and red fruit, blood orange and cracked black pepper. Very fine depth here, firm grip, very persistent on the finish. Excellent. Domaine Sylvain Cathiard
This small, family run domaine was first established in the commune of Vosne-Romanée in Burgundy by Sylvain Cathiard’s grandfather. Since 2011, following the retirement of Sylvain, the domaine has been run by Sylvain's son, Sébastien Cathiard.
