Widely regarded as the pinnacle of Burgundy, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti produces some of the world`s most sought-after wines from its small grand cru vineyards in Vosne-Romanée. Since 1942 the estate is co-owned by two families, the de Villaine and the Leroy, with Alexandre Bernier in place as cellar master following the retirement of Bernard Noblet in 2018. This Richebourg Grand Cru is made from the domaine’s 3.51-hectare parcel, where the soil is made up of pebbly clay and sand overlying a hard limestone base. The 2003 expression is a full-bodied, red-fruited wine, and particularly ripe after nearly two decades.
97 Jancis Robinson
Violets, roses, raspberries, and red cherries emanate from the 2003 Richebourg. Full-bodied, deep, and hugely concentrated, it is muscular, firm and displays the firmest structure of the Domaine de la Romanee-Conti’s 2003s. Soy sauce, tar, chocolate, and dark fruits are found in its focused, audacious personality. Its impressively persistent finish is studded with highly present tannin. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2025.

93 Vinous
Bright ruby-red. Sweet, sappy aromas of dark raspberry and chocolate. Superconcentrated, dense and rich; large-scaled, weighty and mouthfilling. Compellingly broad wine, finishing with a load of ripe tannins. Villaine says this one needs 15 years of aging.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2006
