Under the direction of Lalou Bize-Leroy, Domaine Leroy consists of 21 hectares biodynamically farmed vineyards across some of the most prized communes of Burgundy. Richebourg is one of six Grand Cru sites in the revered village of Vosne-Romanée and is often notable for producing wines of opulence, power and body. The 2006 is a muscular and tannic release, now only just entering its prime drinking phase.

Good bright, deep red with ruby highlights. Knockout nose combines cassis, violet, minerals and menthol; this smells important! Sweet and lush in the mouth, conveying a sense of power and force without any rough edges; in fact this is downright spherical. The wine's insidious mineral concentration and rose petal lift give it great elegance in spite of its sheer size. Wonderfully long and sweet on the back end, finishing with explosive flavors of red fruits, flowers and minerals. Wow!Stephen Tanzer1st March 2009

Domaine Leroy

Burgundian Royalty

The Leroy name is a key pillar of the Burgundian wine scene and a leading light in the Côte d'Or, with three main strands: Domaine Leroy, Maison Leroy and Domaine d'Auvenay (a small, biodynamically farmed Domaine founded by Lalou in 1988).

In 1988, recognising the trend towards domaine bottling in Burgundy, Lalou Bize-Leroy purchased what would become Domaine Leroy: an estate situated in Vosne-Romanée (previously known by the name Domaine Noëllat). Domaine Leroy labelled wines are thus are produced from parcels of grapes grown on the 22ha of domaine-owned Côte d'Or vineyards, which span nine different Grand Crus. These wines are produced biodynamically and at extremely low yields, resulting in superbly concentrated expressions of the Burgundian terroir.
