Château de Rayne Vigneau, established in the 18th century, has a history of producing wines that reflect the distinct terroir of Sauternes. This vintage displays the classic characteristics of the appellation, featuring a blend of 80% Sémillon, 20% Sauvignon Blanc, that is typically rich in botrytis-affected grapes. Partly fermented in new oak and then aged in a mix of new and old barrels for 12 – 18 months before bottling. The 2007 a wet vintage allowing for good levels of botrytis, reveals a complex profile, characterised by honeyed fruit notes intertwined with a refreshing acidity.

Vinous
The 2007 Château de Rayne-Vigneau offers pure peach, apricot and quince on the nose; this is fairly nuanced at first and nicely focused. The palate is well balanced with a light tang of marmalade on the entry, very cohesive with notes of quince, orange rind and hints of ginger emerging with time in the glass. Well-defined and focused on the finish, this lingers in the mouth. This is a classy Sauternes that is probably now à point. Tasted at the 2007 horizontal in Sauternes.
