Château de Rayne Vigneau, established in the 18th century, has a history of producing wines that reflect the distinct terroir of Sauternes. This vintage displays the classic characteristics of the appellation, featuring a blend of 80% Sémillon, 20% Sauvignon Blanc, that is typically rich in botrytis-affected grapes. Partly fermented in new oak and then aged in a mix of new and old barrels for 12 – 18 months before bottling. The 203 (a warm vintage) offers a complex profile marked by notes of honeyed fruit and subtle acidity.

Vinous
Bright yellow-gold. Orange peel, licorice and a suggestion of insecticide not unlike that shown by the 2004. Quite sweet but with slightly streaky acidity keeping the flavors under wraps. Intensely flavored but today the wine's elements are a bit disassociated and the finish shows a faint bitter edge. This was penetrating and pure a year ago from the barrel, but today it displays the aggressive side of the vintage.
