Château Rauzan-Ségla 2008 is a full-bodied mature-vintage Left Bank Bordeaux produced by the `Super Second` Château Rauzan-Ségla in the appellation of Margaux. Consistently justifying its position in the upper echelon of Bordeaux Second Growths, Rauzan-Ségla has been owned by Chanel since 1994. The excellent 1990 vintage was matured in 40% new oak. "The 2008 Rauzan-Ségla is a solid vintage and is still relatively youthful, yet it’s certainly drinking nicely. A blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon and 38% Merlot, it has a cooler, black-fruited, menthol, and tobacco-driven bouquet as well as medium to full body, still present tannins, considerable elegance, and outstanding length. Overall it’s a pretty, well-balanced 2008 that’s going to continue evolving for another 15-20 years." Jeb Dunnuck, 2019

- Good dark, bright red. Deep, brooding aromas of blueberry, mulberry, tobacco, mint and pepper. Deep and sweet, with ripe mulberry and raspberry fruit nicely supported by a firm mineral underpinning. At once smooth and sappy, offering a captivating balance of sweetness and ripe acidity. Finishes strong and vibrant, with firm tannins supported by the wine's mid-palate fruit.

Deep garnet in color, the 2008 Rauzan-Ségla has a rather rustic nose of sweaty leather, tobacco and dried herbs over a core of dried mulberries, prunes and underbrush. Medium-bodied, the mid-palate has just enough earthy/savory flavors with chewy tannins and a drying finish.

The blend this year is 62% Cabernet Sauvignon and 38% Merlot, harvested between October 2nd and 21st, at an average yield of 47 hectoliters per hectare. It was aged for 18 months in French oak, 60% new. The alcohol is 13.5%. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown

Setting the bar for quality winemaking in Margaux, the vineyards of Château Rauzan-Ségla are planted to 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 1% each of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot and are used to produce both the prestigious first wine and the second wine, known as Ségla.

These are wonderfully elegant, vibrant reds that see 60-70% new oak. Considered by many to be one of the greatest properties in Margaux, Rauzan-Ségla is now firmly established as one of Bordeaux`s ‘Super Seconds’.
