Quilceda Creek`s 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon showcases the meticulous craftsmanship of one of Washington State`s oldest family-owned wineries, established in 1978 by Alex Golitzin. This wine, primarily sourced from the renowned Champoux Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA, includes 3% Merlot. It presents a complex profile featuring notes of blackberry, cassis, anise, and subtle hints of spice and grilled herbs. The ample tannins and bright acidity provide structure, resulting in a wine that effectively highlights both its concentration and precision.
98 The Wine Independent
Deep garnet-brick colored, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley prances out with showy notes of boysenberry preserves, crème de cassis, and plum pudding, leading to an undercurrent of Indian spices, sandalwood, dried lavender, and unsmoked cigars. The palate is richly fruity and full-bodied with plush tannins and great tension delivering persistent mineral and exotic spice flavors on the finish. This is so harmonious and seamless. Drinking beautifully now, it should hold for another 10-12 years.Lisa Perrotti-Brown12th March 2025

(includes 3% merlot; 15.2% alcohol) Dark medium ruby. Lovely vibrancy to the aromas of blackcurrant, plum, licorice and cocoa powder, with a strong impression of minerality. Like liquid silk on the palate and yet powerful at the same time, with strong minerality contributing to the impression of lift and inner-mouth perfume. The dark berry, violet and cocoa powder flavors offer compelling early sweetness, and this wine's wonderfully lush tannins will not get in the way of early enjoyment. A great example of the new generation of Quilceda Creek cabernet. Based on its superb length and balance, I'd cellar this for even more fireworks ahead.Stephen Tanzer1st November 2010
