Arnaud Ente Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts 2015 is a medium-bodied Burgundy white wine from the Premier Cru climat of Les Referts in the Puligny-Montrachet appellation of the Côte de Beaune. Formed in the early 1990s, Domaine Arnaud Ente is a boutique wine estate covering approximately 4 hectares. Their top cuvées are fermented and spend their first year in older oak barrels, then transferred to tanks for about six months before bottling without fining or filtration. On the 2015 Les Referts. "Tasted blind, the 2015 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts is an unusually lithe, acid-driven wine for the vintage, wafting from the glass with a bright bouquet of white flowers, crisp green apple and subtle iodine. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, supple and tangy, with lots of cut and juicy energy, albeit comparatively little flesh on its structural bones." William Kelley, 2018

The 2015 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts 1er Cru has a crisp, precise bouquet of Granny Smith apple, flint and smoky aromas that gain intensity in the glass. The palate has a sharp bitter edge on the entry, and just when you want it to take off, it seems to lose interest and levels off. I just wish this had more energy and edginess. Not bad, quite enjoyable, but it might have been better. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.Neal Martin1st November 2018

Balance and Complexity

A leading light in Meursault, Burgundy, Arnaud Ente and his wife, Marie-Odile craft exquisite micro-production Burgundies that easily compete with the finest in the region. The Domaine owns four hectares which are managed with a very small and hands-on team. The key grape varieties here are Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, used to produce stand out Meursault, Puligny Montrachet and Bourgogne Pinot Noir that are renowned for their precision and elegance.

The style has tended towards the opulent, with late picking for fuller ripeness being a key part of Arnaud's philosophy in the 1990s. More recently though the wines have presented with greater levels of freshness and minerality as the winemaking practices have changed and evolved.
