Marc Morey Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 2008 is a full-bodied Burgundy white wine from the Premier Cru climat of Les Pucelles in the Côte de Beaune. Domaine Marc Morey & Fils was originally founded in 1919 by Marc’s father Fernand Morey, who began his career as a vigneron with a couple of hectares in Chassagne-Montrachet. Today, the estate is run by Marc’s daughter Marie-Josèphe, her husband Bernard Mollard and their daughter Sabine. This release is their 2008 vintage from Les Pucelles – one of Puligny`s most-prized 1er Cru vineyards. "A pure, stylish and classy nose of honeysuckle and spice plus ripe peach and pear aromas marries into rich, naturally sweet and punchy medium-bodied flavours that possess a mouth coating and gorgeous silky texture, particularly on the intense, palate staining and lightly mineral-suffused finish. This is flat out terrific and absolutely worth your attention." Burghound, 2010

The 2008 Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1er Cru is a wine that Sabine Mollard told me was difficult to drink young and took four or five years to come round. It has a lovely bouquet, vibrant and well-defined, with dried honey, quince and a light oyster shell scent. This has more freshness than other 2008 whites that I have tasted. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh with touches of patisserie, egg yolk, peach skin and ginger. Very long, very persistent, if you have this wine in your cellar, you are in for a treat. - Neil Martin - The 2008 Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1er Cru is a wine that Sabine Mollard told me was difficult to drink young and took four or five years to come round.
