Etienne Sauzet owns and manages vineyard plots in some of the most esteemed terroirs in Puligny-Montrachet and neighbouring appellations. The Domaine was founded in the early 20th century by Etienne Sauzet and has been managed by several generations of the Sauzet family. The portfolio includes this ‘Les Perrières’, a Premier Cru vineyard which benefits from a favourable position with good exposure to sunlight. Burgundy experienced an outstanding vintage in 2003. Leading estates crafted robust, fruit-forward wines of impressive stature, suitable for long-term ageing. The availability of these wines is now extremely limited.

Aromatically demure, the 2003 Puligny-Montrachet Les Perrieres (white) displays a fleshy medium-bodied character with grilled mineral flavors. Supple and silky-textured, this harmonious wine reveals a long, fresh finish. It should be drunk over the next 5 years.

Pale color. Subdued, classy aromas of lemon cream and minerals. Sweet, concentrated and juicy, with lemon and vanilla flavors nicely framed by firm acids. Finishes soft and persistent, with slightly spiky acidity.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2005
