Domaine d’Auvenay is named after Lalou Bize-Leroy’s home, an old hunting lodge outside Saint-Romain which she shared with her husband Marcel until he passed away in 2004. Bize-Leroy and her sister inherited the property from her father in 1980, and she eventually bought her sister’s share in 1990. The estate amounts to just under four hectares but covers 16 different appellations. This cuvée comes from the Domaine’s plot in the Premier Cru Les Folatières which was acquired in 1989. The 2007 vintage has all of the hallmarks of classic D’auvenay, smoky yellow fruited nose with white pepper and flint. The palate is brimming with rich golden fruit and refreshing minerality.

The 2007 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières is flat-out great. This bristles with energy and cool, mineral-infused tension. From time to time the wine`s fruit makes an appearance, but this is really quite reticent today. Still, there are more than enough flashes of brilliance to make me hope to have another opportunity with this wine in the future. It is simply dazzling. - Antonio Galloni - The 2007 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières is flat-out great. This bristles with energy and cool, mineral-infused tension.
