The 2000 Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes from Domaine Etienne Sauzet is a Chardonnay that showcases the unique terroir of the Premier Cru vineyard. This wine offers aromas of ripe fruit, subtle nuts and a hint of floral notes. The palate displays concentrated flavours, supported by a notable mineral structure that reflects the clay-limestone soils. Domaine Etienne Sauzet, founded in the 19th century, is recognised for its meticulous vineyard practices and small-scale production, emphasising the intrinsic character of each vintage and site.
94 Robert Parker
The 2000 Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes, from some of the estate`s oldest vines, was vinified and aged in 40% new oak barrels. It explodes from the glass with sweet minerals and hints of buttered toast. Dense and deep, this is a medium to full-bodied wine with an ample, white fruit-filled personality and a long, soft finish. It is concentrated, intense, and powerful, yet retains the elegance that has made this village world-renowned. - Pierre Rovani
93 Vinous
Sexy aromas of white flowers, truffle and citrus fruits. Precise but laid-back, with noteworthy purity and inner-mouth perfume to the flavors of lemon, lime, flowers and minerals. This may be even more concentrated than the Champ-Canet but it's not more elegant. Very rich and youthfully backward.
17.5 Jancis Robinson
Open and full nose. Very, very lively and charming. Very classic but quite evolved. Lemon cordial and oak. (JR)
