The Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes Domaine Leflaive 2009 is a Premier Cru Burgundy Chardonnay that reflects the characteristics of its warm vintage. It offers aromas of ripe stone fruits, subtle nuttiness and a trace of spice on the nose. The palate features a broad and full-bodied profile, revealing layers of fruit and mineral complexity. Domaine Leflaive is noted for its commitment to biodynamic practices and has cultivated its 0.73-hectare plot in the esteemed Premier Cru Les Combettes since the early 1970s. The vineyard is renowned for its clay-limestone soils, which contribute to the wine’s structure and longevity.

Pale yellow with a green tinge. Musky, discreet nose hints at lime and nut oil. Dense, ripe and lush; shows sweet notes of vanilla and hazelnut but this is very tightly coiled today in the mid-palate. Explosive on the back end, finishing with excellent breadth and flavor intensity and a slightly tannic impression. Terrific volume here.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2011

The pinnacle of Puligny-Montrachet

Founded in the 18th century, Domaine Leflaive has built a storied reputation for its commitment to biodynamic farming and exceptional craftsmanship. The estate owns 22 hectares of vineyards, including 10 hectares of Premiers Crus in Puligny-Montrachet (Les Combettes, Les Pucelles, Le Clavoillon, Les Folatières), as well as no fewer than 5 hectares of Grands Crus (Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, and a tiny holding in Le Montrachet).

Joseph Leflaive, whose vision and dedication in the early 20th century were pivotal, transformed the domaine into a symbol of excellence. In the 1990s, Anne-Claude Leflaive introduced biodynamic practices, adhering to rigorous standards that respect the natural rhythms of the earth, promoting soil health and vine vitality without synthetic chemicals. This holistic approach results in Chardonnay wines celebrated for their purity, depth, and complexity. Each bottle reflects the rich heritage and innovative spirit that have made Domaine Leflaive a revered name among wine enthusiasts.
