Located in Chassagne-Montrachet, Jean-Marc Pillot is particularly associated with white wines from Chardonnay, although it also produces reds from Pinot Noir in both Chassagne and neighbouring Santenay. The estate owns approximately 11 hectares of vineyards that supply about two-thirds of its production, with purchased grapes complementing the rest. This cuvée comes from the Champs-Gain vineyard in Puligny-Montrachet, situated in proximity to the iconic Montrachet. Many of the 2000 Burgundy wines, both red and white, have shown the potential for long-term aging. The best examples continued to evolve and improved with additional years in the bottle.

Vinous
Spicy but reticent nose. Closed today and dominated by its steely spine. Dense and tactile but the '01 is more generous today. Hints of lemon, lime and nut oil. Rather austere and classic.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2002
