Château La Providence 2008 is a medium-bodied, Merlot-based red wine from the Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux. Once located in the heart of Pomerol on the appellation`s famous clay-gravel plateau, the Moueix family-owned Providence was a Pomerol producer of some note before ceasing production in 2012 and being absorbed by Château La Fleur-Pétrus (also owned by the Moueix family). This fine effort from the 2008 vintage is an assemblage of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. "A brilliant effort for the vintage, this muscular, dense purple-coloured, powerful, rich 2008 offers notes of graphite, truffles, black cherries and blackberries along with moderately high tannins, full-bodied richness, impressive purity and a multidimensional mouthfeel. Give it 2-3 years of cellaring and enjoy it over the next two decades. It should prove to be one of the longer lived wines of the vintage." Robert Parker, 2011
