The 2000 Château Prieuré-Lichine is a Bordeaux blend, primarily composed of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, from the Margaux appellation. This vintage presents a distinct profile of dark fruit aromas, including blackcurrant and plum, alongside earthy notes of graphite and subtle herbal undertones. The palate is structured, revealing firm tannins and a moderate acidity, suggesting potential for further ageing. Château Prieuré-Lichine is well-respected Fourth Growth estate in Margaux.
90 Robert Parker
Undeniably the finest Prieure-Lichine in 30-40 years, this textured, rich, medium to full-bodied 2000 boasts a dark ruby/purple color in addition to a knock-out nose of black cherries, cassis, tobacco leaf, cocoa, and toasty oak in the background. The wine is sweet on the attack, full-bodied, and well-textured, with oodles of fruit and glycerin. This is sexy stuff that can be drunk early, but will age gracefully for 15-16 years. Anticipated maturity. 2004-2026. Bravo! - Robert M. Parker, Jr.
87 Vinous
- (under the direction of microbullage-meister Stephane Derenoncourt, this has been racked only once) Medium ruby. Ripe aromas of red berries, coffee, spicy oak and game, with a suggestion of almost exotic merlot. Spicy red fruit, coffee and oak flavors are currently a bit disjointed. But here the tannins seem a bit riper than those of the 2001.
16.5 Jancis Robinson
Very deep crimson. Fireworks nose (interesting!), but rather loose and formless on the palate. It doesn’t seize the opportunities of the vintage, alas, though good for early drinking. (JR)
