‘Silex’ is a superb white wine produced by Domaine Didier Dagueneau in the Loire Valley. It is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes grown on the Saint-Andlaint hill in the Pouilly-Fumé appellation. The wine is aged for 12 months in stainless-steel tanks and then bottled without fining or filtration. Despite a cooler-than-average growing season, France experienced a remarkable vintage in 2010, producing legendary wines in Bordeaux, Sauternes, and the Rhône Valley, as well as exceptional wines in Burgundy, Beaujolais, the Loire Valley, and Alsace.

Vinous
Greenish yellow. Lime and quince on the nose, with dusty mineral and honeysuckle qualities adding complexity. Drier and racier than the 2011, showing impressive definition to its citrus and floral flavors. Finishes with mineral thrust and spicy length. Still closed and a touch austere, but shows the superb potential of the 2010 vintage.
