Established in 1858 by Alexandre Louis Pommery and Narcisse Greno, Pommery is credited with being the first maison to commercialise Brut Champagne way back in 1874. Cuvée Louise, an extremely pure expression, was created in 1979 and named after Madame Louise Pommery. It is made using Chardonnay grapes from Avize and Cramant and Pinot Noir from Aÿ. The 1999 vintage reveals rich notes of brioche, buttered toast, ginger, apple and lemon custard, all carried by a soft acidity.
