Duty Charges

Below is a summary of the new duty charges per bottle as of February 2026. Please note that these vary depending on the ABV and are subject to change. Please get in touch if you require more information:

Transparent Billing and Rate Calculations

Annual Billing: Clients are invoiced annually based on the wines stored in the preceding year.
Case Equivalents: A case is defined as 9 litres of wine (typically twelve 750ml bottles), ensuring clarity in pricing.
Pro-Rata Charges: Storage fees are charged on a per-bottle basis, and wines stored for part of a month will be billed accordingly.

How to Use Our Bonded Storage

Purchase en primeur or under-bond wines from Hedonism Wines.
Automatically enjoy twelve months of free storage at our bonded storage when you open your storage account.
After twelve months, your storage will continue at the rates outlined above, with quarterly invoicing.
When you are ready to receive your wines, simply request delivery. Most orders are fulfilled within 3-4 working days.

The Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill 1982 is a notable vintage Champagne, produced by Pol Roger, a house established in 1849 and known for its strong connection to Winston Churchill. This cuvée is a blend primarily of Pinot Noir, complemented by Chardonnay, sourced exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards. The 1982 growing season, marked by warmth and sunshine, contributed to the grapes` ripeness and concentration. In this magnum format, the wine matures slowly, enhancing its complexity. After decades, expect a deep golden colour, with developed aromas of brioche, dried fruit and toasted nuts on the nose, and a layered palate that retains its freshness.

Preceding a recent tasting of Coche-Dury’s 2020s that I shall write up separately, a magnum of 1982 Brut Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill did the rounds to whet our palates. Pol Roger has always kept the blend secret, though clearly, it leans more towards Pinot Noir than Chardonnay. Only released in certain years, the first vintage was the 1975, released en magnum nine years later at Blenheim Palace. After over four decades, one expected the sophomore 1982 to have a light pétillance. The nose is fully mature yet entrancing, dried honey, lanolin, grilled hazelnuts and touches of brioche intermingling, quite intense, a bouquet that demands your full attention (and gets it). The palate is, again, mature yet fresh and vibrant. There was perhaps just a scintilla of oxidation, though it merely imparts more complexity. Quite nutty towards its second half, it exhibits impressive weight and intensity, fanning out gloriously. Of course, in large format the 1982 comes across as less mature than equivalent bottles. But had Sir Winston himself joined us that night, I feel he would have approved, lit a cigar, and stayed to enjoy the white Burgundy! Neal Martin12th February 2024
