The newest addition to the Pol Roger range made in the classic House style but without any dosage. An equal parts blend of Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay, the nose is lively and fresh with white flowers, green apple and brioche. On the palate, it is clean and crisp with notes of stone fruits, almonds and honey.

The NV Extra Brut Pure—Pol Roger’s non-dosé expression—is crafted from equal parts Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. It opens with a delicate bouquet of early-spring white blossoms, mingling with notes of nashi pear and lemon zest, layered over subtle nuances of brioche. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, taut and incisive, complemented by a pillowy mousse and racy acidity. The finish is bone-dry and chalky, underscoring its intended purity.

Smells quite evolved. Workmanlike with a slight lack of juice and excess of structure. Hard work. Lost its youthful fruit? (This is the latest addition to the Pol Roger range, a wine with no added dosage to compensate for the high acidity. It`s a brave move – not least because to some palates Pol`s regular NV can taste a little sweet.) (JR)

Named after the founder, Pol Roger was the son of a lawyer who started his career as a wine wholesaler. The house he founded and the Champagnes he produced went on to receive the imperial and royal warrants of the Austro-Hungarian court. Today, Pol Roger is one of just a few Champagne houses to have been awarded the

Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill was launched in 1984 as the house's Prestige cuvée. Created in homage to Sir Winston Churchill, a lifelong lover of the Champagne House, the cuvée's style emulates the qualities that he preferred - robustness, a full-bodied character and relative maturity.
