Dominio de Pingus was founded in 1995 by Danish winemaker, Peter Sisseck. With incredibly small production of extremely old-vine Tempranillo, he is one of the most acclaimed producers in the Ribera del Duero region and has a global reputation for thoroughly modern, highly characterful and long-lived wines. The 2009 is an exceptional release of power and concentration but extraordinary elegance and finesse. It is entering its prime drinking phase but will continue to develop over the next 10-15 years.

Vinous
Dark purple. Drop-dead gorgeous aromas of spicy dark berries complicated by vanilla, mocha, espresso, iron, licorice and sexy oak spices. Sweet and expansive, showing great depth to its ripe blackberry and boysenberry flavors. Notes of candied flowers, cola and mocha gain strength with air and carry through an extremely long, sweet finish. There's plenty of structure here but it's hidden under all the dense fruit right now. That price is correct, sadly.Josh Raynolds1st November 2011
