Château Phélan-Ségur is a scenic 70-hectare estate situated in the Saint-Estèphe appellation. Owned by Xavier Gardinier since 1985, the property was acquired by the Belgian businessman Philippe Van de Vyvere in 2017. This is a magnum release of the château’s 2000 vintage, a blend composed of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 1.5% Petit Verdot and 1.5% Cabernet Franc. It’s a opulent, full-bodied wine, dominated by notes of blackcurrant, blackberry and floral accents.

Vinous
Moderately saturated ruby-red. Slightly medicinal, spicy aromas of cherry, licorice and currant leaf. Rather backward and a bit tough in the mouth, with black fruit, plum and violet notes and modest sweetness. Finishes with very firm tannins.Stephen Tanzer1st May 2001
