The 2013 Pfingstberg Riesling from Domaine Valentin Zusslin is a dry wine sourced from the renowned Pfingstberg Grand Cru vineyard in Alsace. Characterised by steep south-facing slopes and granite-sandstone soils the vineyard contributes a pronounced minerality. Valentin Zusslin adheres to biodynamic and organic farming practices, exemplifying a commitment to minimal intervention winemaking. In this vintage, the wine showcases high acidity and a freshness indicative of challenging weather conditions. Aromas of citrus fruits and white florals are complemented by a mineral backbone, offering a precise palate experience. While enjoyable now, it possesses potential for further maturation.

Zusslin`s 2013 Grand Cru Pfingstberg Riesling has developed a stunning bouquet of clear, tropical fruit aromas such as passion fruits and mango intertwined with the coolish and spicy Pfingstberg terroir notes. Lush, fresh and savory on the palate, this is a dense, very intense and sustainable Riesling with fine but firm tannins and lingering salinity. It`s an impressive 2013! 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in May 2022.

Bright straw-green. Very perfumed, bright aromas of honeycomb, white peach, lemon, pepper and pear. Tactile and juicy in the mouth, showing a delicate peppery spiciness and lemony lift to the juicy stone fruit and sweet spice flavors. Finishes bright and long, with bracing lemony lift and lingering floral nuances. I quite liked this.Ian d'Agata1st February 2016

More definition and precision than the 2012 with a hint of some curry spice! (JR)
