Peter Michael Point Rouge Chardonnay 2017 is a white wine from Sonoma Coast, California, crafted by Peter Michael Winery. Situated on the slopes of Mount St. Helena, the vineyard features clay and volcanic soils that contribute to the wine`s unique structure and mineral profile. 2017 presented a warm, dry growing season, allowing for optimal fruit ripeness while retaining acidity. The wine undergoes fermentation and maturation in French oak barrels, a portion of which are new. With aromas of white peach, lemon curd toasted almond, its structured palate demonstrates mineral precision, culminating in a balanced, enduring finish.

The 2017 Chardonnay Point Rouge is a selection of the best barrels in the cellar, usually from older Wente and Calera clone fruit. Rich and ample on the palate, with terrific freshness, the Point Rouge captures all the best of the Peter Michael style. This is a decidedly extroverted style, and yet there is plenty of vibrancy as well as nuance. Antonio Galloni1st May 2019

Inspired by the Médoc and Côte d'Or

Peter Michael Winery was founded by British businessman Sir Peter Michael in the early 1980s with a singular vision - to make wine in the terroir-driven tradition of Burgundy and Bordeaux, under the California sun and in California soil. The winery currently produce around fifteen wines using four varietals - Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

Consistency and quality are the watchwords here - the wines are clearly inspired by the poise and precision of their Old World counterparts but can't help expressing an edge of Californian excess - ripe fruit abounds on the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir while the Cabernet Sauvignons have a density and concentration that many Bordelais would envy.
