The Peter Michael Point Rouge Chardonnay 2010 emerges from the Knights Valley AVA in Sonoma County, California. This limited-production wine is a meticulous selection of barrels from the estate`s finest Chardonnay vineyards, including Belle Côte, Ma Belle-Fille and La Carrière. The winemaking process utilises 100% natural fermentation with indigenous yeasts and is conducted in French oak barrels, featuring a notable proportion of new oak. The wine undergoes extended sur lie aging with regular bâtonnage, enhancing its complexity. The result is a structured Chardonnay offering a nuanced bouquet of ripe fruit, citrus and mineral notes.

The 2010 Chardonnay Point Rouge is the alter ego of the Cuvee Indigene. A textured, totally layered wine, the 2010 caresses the palate with seemingly endless fruit. Nectarine, almonds, honeysuckle and mint are woven together in a fabric of impeccable class. Peter Michael fans will flip over the 2010. It is striking juice. Antonio Galloni1st July 2013

Inspired by the Médoc and Côte d'Or

Peter Michael Winery was founded by British businessman Sir Peter Michael in the early 1980s with a singular vision - to make wine in the terroir-driven tradition of Burgundy and Bordeaux, under the California sun and in California soil. The winery currently produce around fifteen wines using four varietals - Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

Consistency and quality are the watchwords here - the wines are clearly inspired by the poise and precision of their Old World counterparts but can't help expressing an edge of Californian excess - ripe fruit abounds on the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir while the Cabernet Sauvignons have a density and concentration that many Bordelais would envy.
