Peter Michael Winery was founded by British businessman Sir Peter Michael in the early 1980s with a singular vision. "to make wine in the terroir-driven tradition of Burgundy and Bordeaux, under the California sun and in California soil". Consistency and quality are the principles here – the wines are clearly inspired by the poise and precision of their Old World counterparts but can`t help expressing an edge of Californian richness.

Mon Plaisir (My Pleasure), is Peter Micheal’s original Chardonnay, planted in one of their mountainside vineyards, entirely from the Old Went clone.

Mon Plaisir Chardonnay 2012 is produced in Sonoma County`s Knights Valley AVA. 2012 is generally considered one of the best “Classic and well-balanced only begins to explain the beauty of the 2012 vintage”, “The 2012 Chardonnay vintage displays exceptional structure and quality”.

This vintage showcases an array of ripe stone fruits, green apple, and fresh citrus, complemented by subtle almond notes and oak integration. The palate is full-bodied, presenting a balanced acidity that enhances the concentration of fruit flavours.

Bright yellow. Floral honey, melon and poached pear on the nose, with suave floral and mineral accents adding vivacity. Fleshy yet lively and sharply delineated, offering intense Meyer lemon and yellow apple flavors and a smoky mineral quality. The dry, mineral-driven finish shows excellent clarity and power, leaving a honeysuckle note behind.Stephen Tanzer1st May 2014

Peter Michael Winery was founded by British businessman Sir Peter Michael in the early 1980s with a singular vision - to make wine in the terroir-driven tradition of Burgundy and Bordeaux, under the California sun and in California soil. The winery currently produce around fifteen wines using four varietals - Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

Consistency and quality are the watchwords here - the wines are clearly inspired by the poise and precision of their Old World counterparts but can't help expressing an edge of Californian excess - ripe fruit abounds on the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir while the Cabernet Sauvignons have a density and concentration that many Bordelais would envy.
