Peter Michael Winery was founded by British businessman Sir Peter Michael in the early 1980s with a singular vision. "to make wine in the terroir-driven tradition of Burgundy and Bordeaux, under the California sun and in California soil". Consistency and quality are the principles here – the wines are clearly inspired by the poise and precision of their Old World counterparts but can`t help expressing an edge of Californian richness.

Mon Plaisir (My Pleasure), is Peter Micheal’s original Chardonnay, planted in one of their mountainside vineyards, entirely from the Old Went clone.

Mon Plaisir Chardonnay 2011 is produced in Sonoma County`s Knights Valley AVA. A cool vintage that required careful vineyard management, the 2011 was a very low yielding vintage. Resulting in in flavourful and elegant wine. Notes of apricot, pear and brioche and hazelnuts, are balanced by fresh acidity and a lingering finish.

93 Vinous
(50% new oak): Green-tinged gold. Pungent aromas of ripe orchard fruits, tangerine, smoky lees and toasted nuts, with a strong mineral overlay. Suave, silky and expansive, offering lush citrus fruit and poached pear flavors complemented by notes of buttered toast and anise. Finishes smooth and smoky, with lingering floral character and impressive spicy persistence.Stephen Tanzer1st May 2014

Peter Michael Winery was founded by British businessman Sir Peter Michael in the early 1980s with a singular vision - to make wine in the terroir-driven tradition of Burgundy and Bordeaux, under the California sun and in California soil. The winery currently produce around fifteen wines using four varietals - Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

Consistency and quality are the watchwords here - the wines are clearly inspired by the poise and precision of their Old World counterparts but can't help expressing an edge of Californian excess - ripe fruit abounds on the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir while the Cabernet Sauvignons have a density and concentration that many Bordelais would envy.
