The Peter Michael Mon Plaisir Chardonnay 2010 is a notable single-vineyard expression from Peter Michael Winery in Sonoma County`s Knights Valley AVA. Cultivated at a high elevation on the southeast slope of Mount Saint Helena, this Chardonnay benefits from sun exposure and volcanic soils, using Old Wente clone Chardonnay. The 2010 vintage was cool and wet, lending a fresher, more mineral-focused profile. Fermented naturally in French oak barrels, this wine showcases aromas of citrus, stone fruit and wet stone. The palate balances richness with a mineral finish.

The 2010 Chardonnay Mon Plaisir blossoms in the glass with fragrant apricots, peaches and orange peel. A rich, generous wine, the 2010 is beautifully woven together. Once again, the Mon Plaisir is the showiest of the Chardonnays. Sweet floral notes give the finish its attractive texture and lift. Antonio Galloni1st July 2013

Inspired by the Médoc and Côte d'Or

Peter Michael Winery was founded by British businessman Sir Peter Michael in the early 1980s with a singular vision - to make wine in the terroir-driven tradition of Burgundy and Bordeaux, under the California sun and in California soil. The winery currently produce around fifteen wines using four varietals - Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

Consistency and quality are the watchwords here - the wines are clearly inspired by the poise and precision of their Old World counterparts but can't help expressing an edge of Californian excess - ripe fruit abounds on the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir while the Cabernet Sauvignons have a density and concentration that many Bordelais would envy.
