The Peter Michael L`Après Midi Sauvignon Blanc 2013 hails from the Knights Valley AVA in Sonoma County, California. This wine features a blend dominated by Sauvignon Blanc, typically around 92%, with Sémillon making up the remainder. The 2013 vintage benefitted from ideal growing conditions, marked by a warm, dry spring. The winemaking process involves 100% barrel fermentation with native yeasts and eight months of sur lie aging in French oak. This careful technique, combined with blocked malolactic fermentation, results in a wine with distinct notes of citrus, stone fruit and a mineral edge, showcasing the producer`s commitment to quality and craftsmanship.

Inspired by the Médoc and Côte d'Or

Peter Michael Winery was founded by British businessman Sir Peter Michael in the early 1980s with a singular vision - to make wine in the terroir-driven tradition of Burgundy and Bordeaux, under the California sun and in California soil. The winery currently produce around fifteen wines using four varietals - Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

Consistency and quality are the watchwords here - the wines are clearly inspired by the poise and precision of their Old World counterparts but can't help expressing an edge of Californian excess - ripe fruit abounds on the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir while the Cabernet Sauvignons have a density and concentration that many Bordelais would envy.
